Terms of Service
Last updated: July 2026 · Rent-a-Pro Technologies Inc.
1. About Rent-a-Pro
Rent-a-Pro is a managed labour dispatch platform operated by Rent-a-Pro Technologies Inc. (“we,” “us,” or “Company”). We connect customers who need skilled labour with vetted independent workers. Unlike a marketplace, every job passes through our administrators: we review requests, assign workers, and approve completions.
By creating an account or using rentapro.ca you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the platform.
2. Accounts and Eligibility
You must be at least 18 years old and a Canadian resident to create an account. You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account.
We may suspend or terminate any account that violates these Terms, at our sole discretion.
3. How the Platform Works
Customers submit job requests with an hourly rate and estimated duration. We pre-authorize a payment hold equal to the estimated maximum amount. An administrator reviews the request, selects a qualified worker from our vetted pool, and sends an offer.
Workers accept or decline offers. On acceptance, the worker checks in at the job site, completes the work, and checks out. The customer reviews the work, and an administrator approves completion before payment is captured.
We charge a service fee (currently 12%) added to the customer’s rate, and retain aplatform cut (currently 12%) from the worker’s earnings. These percentages are set by the platform and may change with notice.
4. Payments
Payments are processed by Stripe. By using the platform you also agree toStripe’s services agreement.
- A payment hold is placed when a request is submitted. You will not be charged until the job is approved.
- You are charged only for actual hours worked, at the agreed hourly rate plus the service fee.
- If a job is cancelled before a worker starts, the hold is released within 5–10 business days.
- Refunds and disputes are handled in accordance with our refund policy and Stripe’s dispute process.
5. Workers Are Independent Contractors
Workers on Rent-a-Pro are independent contractors, not employees of Rent-a-Pro Technologies Inc. We do not control how workers perform their work, and we are not responsible for their conduct on job sites. Workers are responsible for their own taxes, insurance, and compliance with applicable laws.
Workers must maintain general liability insurance at a minimum coverage level set by the platform, and must hold any certifications required for the services they offer.
6. Prohibited Conduct
You must not:
- Use the platform for any unlawful purpose
- Circumvent the platform by arranging direct payment with a worker outside Rent-a-Pro
- Post false or misleading information about job requirements, certifications, or identity
- Harass, threaten, or discriminate against other users
- Interfere with the security or operation of the platform
7. Platform Liability
Rent-a-Pro acts as an intermediary and is not a party to the contract for services between a customer and a worker. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for property damage, personal injury, theft, or any other loss arising from work performed by a worker.
In no event shall our liability exceed the total fees paid to us in the three months preceding the claim.
8. Privacy
Your use of the platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.
9. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify registered users by email at least 14 days before material changes take effect. Your continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
10. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Manitoba and the federal laws of Canada applicable therein, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute arising under these Terms shall be resolved in the courts of Manitoba.
